Quantum Information Processing by the Single NV Center in Diamond

Abstract

Since the observation of the single NV center in diamond and the realization of manipulation of its single electron spin, the excellent characteristics of the NV center and its potential for quantum information processing have been shown in demonstrations of a single photon generation and its application for quantum cryptography, CNOT gate, quantum register, and generation of entanglements among single spins. The good coherence properties of single spins and its photon accessibility are the main excellent characteristics of the NV center. In this article, the NV center and recent researches of it are described.
