Finally, SuperKEKB/Belle II experiment will start. The accelerator and detector have been fully upgraded, to start exploring the particle physics beyond the standard model. The experiment is designed to collect 50 times more events than the previous B-factory experiments. This document describes the SuperKEKB/Belle II experiment, especially the major detector upgrades.

It is expected that the upcoming SuperKEKB/Belle II experiment will provide us with valuable information on and/or hints for new physics beyond the standard model. In this article, we explain the physics of SuperKEKB/Belle II from the theoretical side. In particular, we show that it is possible to probe the TeV scale and beyond, for example, through the B_d –B̅_d mixing, and explain how to discriminate new-physics models.

The Phase-1 commissioning of the SuperKEKB accelerator is started at February 1st, 2016. At May 9th now, the initial check and calibration of the accelerator system was completed. The integral stored beam current reaches 75% of the target value. The initial beam commissioning are reported.

We present polarization and coherent quench analyses of the gap dynamics in Bi-based high-T_c cuprates (Bi2212) using femtosecond optical pump-probe spectroscopy. The polarization analysis has addressed the rotational symmetry breakings of the dynamics, which are suppressed at room temperature and appears below T^*. The coherent quench experiment of the pseudogap has indicated an absence of long-range electronic order beyond a few coherence lengths on short timescales.
