New Phenomena Arising from Charge and Geometrical Frustration

Abstract

In geometrically frustrated spin systems based on the tri angular-like lattice, spin ordering is fairly suppressed and an exotic state tends to appear. What happens then, if charge degrees of free dom is added to such systems? In this article, new phenomena in pyrochlore R₂Mo₂O₇ (R is rare earth) and spinel AlV₂O₄, which arise from charge degrees of freedom with geometrical frustration, are reported and discussed.
