Abstract
Estimation of residential energy consumption and CO2 emissions by a probabilistic method that uses only the NHK National time use survey for generating household activity schedules will load to several problems. One of problems is that this method generates an excessive number of trips. Another is that it cannot take account of differences of activity schedules across household types or residential areas. The aim of this study is to suggest a method for probabilistically generating household activity schedules using both the NHK National time use survey and the Person trip survey which is a typical household travel survey. The results of this study suggest that a probabilistic method for generating household activity schedules using a combination of these two surveys is more accurate than using only the NHK National time use survey.
