Abstract
Green space agreement is the legal system that landowners cooperatively plant trees and keep green space according to a rule which is prepared by developers or landowners. Though it is said that the system is effective to create green spaces in newly developed residential estates, it is necessary to investigate whether this system may be effective to manage green spaces in the maturing process of residential estates which trees have grown bigger and residents have become older. Therefore this paper analyzes agreement texts to confirm whether agreements are described to manage grown green spaces, and analyzes an interview to the representatives of agreement boards and a questionnaire survey of residents to grasp the actual operation and problems of the agreement system, which were conducted in agreement districts of Otsu city, Shiga prefecture.
