Abstract
Internet access has been getting available even in rural area and the role of the Internet, especially social media such as SNS, as a new communication place is expected. But SNS usage for private purpose may weaken sense of region, leading to a weaker community. In this study, we analyzed the difference in sense of region between types of SNS usage. In the result, we clarified: 1) There are 2 types of senses of region, inward and outward ones respectively, 2) Real-name SNS users have a higher outward sense, 3) Both of the senses are higher in rural area than in urban area and 4) Communication with the outside is expected to get vitalized through real-name SNS in the future.
