Synergies between the SDGs and Fairtrade

Abstract

Many researches have investigated the synergies among the targets of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), but the synergies between the SDGs and other institutions have not been sufficiently investigated. This study focuses on the Fairtrade, one of the international certification programs, and explores how the Fairtrade can synergize on the SDG targets. The results show that the Fairtrade has standards for contributing to 72 SDG targets, of which 41 contribute in a broad, direct and integrated manner to the targets.
