Abstract

This study targeted the tourist guidebooks related to the “Project to Fully Enjoy National Parks”, and clarified the characteristics of the cultural landscape concept positioned in Japan's national parks system. The target national parks are eight locations that are promoting the “Project to Fully Enjoy National Parks”. The target tourist guidebook reported a total of 73 cultural resources. When these cultural resources were read as cultural landscapes in the national park system, the breakdown of cultural landscapes was recognized as follows. There are 25 religious landscapes, accounting for 32.1%, 5 village landscapes, accounting for 6.4%, 8 industrial landscapes, accounting for 10.3%, and 40 other landscape elements, accounting for 51.3%.
