Abstract
Public support and citizen participation are important for invasive non-native species control. This study aimed to clarify factors influencing the support level for removal of invasive fish in Lake Biwa. A questionnaire survey was conducted targeting residents of Shiga Prefecture. As a result, it was revealed that 48.0% of respondents know the damage caused by invasive fish, and 67.5% of respondents answered relatively support the removal of invasive fish. The strength of support level tends to be higher among those who trust the Shiga Prefectural government about the environmental conservation of Lake Biwa, prioritize economic growth or scientific and technological development, and respect the lives of animals and plants.
