Abstract
Ahead of the Japanese Crested Ibis's planned FY2026 reintroduction in Ishikawa, this study surveyed Sado Island residents in 2024 on their views of this Honshu expansion and the ibis as a ” Symbol of the Community. „ Results show residents support expansion, provided ibis habitation continues on Sado. The ibis is firmly seen as ” Sado City's symbol,„ likely due to its stable local population. While the Honshu reintroduction may challenge Sado's ” Symbol of the Community„ identity, it also offers new values as a pioneering reintroduction area and for broader cooperation. Continuous research is important.
