Abstract
The basic properties of cement and the durability of concrete from high trioxide(SO3)and high ferrite(C4AF)clinker manufactured in the production line were investigated. Clinkers with increasing SO3 and C4AF contents by 0.7% and 1.2% respectively were experimentally produced and cements were prepared with SO3 contents from 2.0 to 3.5% by additions of gypsum. It was shown that the setting time and mortar compressive strength were unchanged while the color of the cement was changed. Hydration heat was found to be controllable provided that the present gypsum content is the level as comparison sample. Fluidity of fresh concrete was also unchanged when lignin sulfonic acid type AE water reducing agent was used while dosage had to be increased when polycarboxylic acid type superplasticizer was used. This may be attributed to the amount of SO3 in the clinker. About the durability of concrete, compressive strength, carbonation, length change in drying shrinkage, adiabatic temperature rise, chrolide ion penetration and compressive strength under the simple adiabatic curing were unchanged when the high trioxide and high ferrite clinker was used in cement. It is concluded that the increase of 1.2% in C4AF may affect the cement color but may pose no significant effects on the fresh, hardened properties and the durability.
