Abstract
The purpose of this study is an effective use of titanium dioxide powder to cement concrete structural materials. It can be used for overlaying materials or repairing materials in order to provide new function to existing concrete members. In order to evaluate possibility of those application, investigation of bond properties between mortar incorporating the titanium dioxide powder and the concrete has to be required. Thus, this study describes experimental investigation for the adhesion properties of the mortar incorporating the titanium dioxide powder. As a result, compressive strength and modulus of elasticity of the mortar incorporating titanium dioxide powder increased slightly up to incorporating ratio of 10% to cement content by weight ratio. However, the strength and the modulus of elasticity decreased with the ratio of over 10% by the weight. Furthermore, the incorporating ratio of the powder and type of the powder which means floury or sol type, and difference of particle size of the powder had an effect to bond properties according to a slant test and an adhesive strength test for specimens composed of the mortar incorporating titanium dioxide powder and ordinal concrete. On the other hand, bending test for member composed of the mortar and existing concrete showed proper bond properties.
