Abstract
In this paper, in order to consider the applicability of crushed scallop shell to the coarse aggregate for porous concrete, the void tests, the water permeability tests and the compressive strength tests of porous concrete with scallop shell were carried out. The particle size of the crushed scallop shell as coarse aggregate was 1.2~15mm. The water-cementitious materials ratio, the silica fume-cementitious materials ratio and the void content ratio of porous concrete were 25%, 10% and 20%, respectively. The scallop shell content ratios to aggregate volume were 0%, 20%, 40%, 60%, 80% and 100%. The void percentage and the coefficient of water permeability of the porous concrete with the crushed scallop shell decreased with increasing of the scallop shell content ratio. The coefficient of water permeability increased with increasing of the void percentage. In the case that the scallop shell content was 100%, the bottom of specimen was clogged with cement paste, and the clogging of the bottom affected the decreasing of permeability. The compressive strength of porous concrete decreased with increasing of the scallop shell content. The effect of scallop shell on the decreasing of the compressive strength was greater than that of the void content.
