Small-diameter deformed bar D4 and D5 regulated by JIS G 3112 in 2004 are used for construction and concrete products. These products were expected to gain popularity, but as of today, that expectation has not been realized. Therefore, in this paper, the quality characteristics of the deformed bars were compared through various experiments with the iron wires conducted by the authors. It was proven in the experiments that the deformed bars have bond strength and crack dispersion superior to the iron wires. Analytical models of a gutter that simulated the real conditions were analyzed using three dimensional finite element method. By the analysis, it was understood that especially the side wall of a gutter shows complicated deformation behavior when the actual load was applied. An appropriate arrangement of reinforcement using the small-diameter deformed bar was proposed as a result of the experiments and the analysis.
