To investigate the applicability of porous mortar(POM)as an acoustic material, experimental investigations were conducted regarding the influences of total thickness of the POM layer and back cavity on sound absorption property of POM board and floor impact sound insulation performance of dry double wood floor in which the POM boards were laid inside the air space. As a result, we reached the following conclusions:1)The sound absorption property of the POM boards could be controlled by the back cavity without increasing the total thickness of the POM layer. 2)It might be effective in improving the light floor impact sound insulation performance of the wood floor to lay the POM boards directly onto the air space and increase the total thickness of the POM layer. The heavy floor impact sound level was successfully reduced by inserting the air cavity into the back side of the POM boards.
