Abstract
Cefpirome was given to 9 patients (4 with wound infections, 3 with intraabdominal abscesses, and 2 with pneumonia). Clinical efficacy was excellent in 1, good in 4, fair in 1, poor in 2, and unknown in 1 patient. The bacteriological response was: erdicated in 1, replaced in 1, unchanged in 1, and unknown in 6 isolated organisms.
Side effects were noted in one case of feeling of warmth and diaphoresis, and in another of elevation of BUN and s-creatinin. Abnormal laboratory findings were noted in one case of elevation of hepatic enzymes.
