Abstract
Clinical studies were carried out in the field of obstetrics and gynecology to evaluate SY5555, a new oral penem.
SY5555 was administered to 18 patients with obstetric and gynecological infections. Clinical evaluation was possible in 12 patients (administration at doses of 100-200mg three times a day for 4 to 14 days).
The clinical efficacy was good in 11 patients and poor in 1. The overall efficacy rate was 91.7%(11/12). In terms of bacteriological efficacy, all of 6 strains were eradicated. Clinical safety was evaluated in 16 patients. No side effects or abnormal laboratory findings were observed.
These findings suggest that SY5555 is a useful antibiotic for obstetric and gynecological infections.
