Cell free mitochondrial DNA in plasma and physical condition of cows

Abstract

Blood contains cell free DNA (cfDNA), and cell free mitochondrial DNA(cf-mtDNA) is able to be easily detected by real time PCR. The present study investigated the relationship between the amount of cf-mtDNA in plasma and physiological conditions of cows. In addition, relationship between preg-nancy following artificial insemination and concentration of cf-mtDNA in the corresponding plasma. Significantly positive relationship was found between concentration of LDH and cf-mtDNA, and negative relationship was found between concentration of triglyceride and cf-mtDNA. There was no significant difference in the amount of cf-mtDNA between pregnant or non-pregnant cows following artificial insemination.
