Abstract

In order to clarify the relationship between erythrocyte antigens and lymphocyte antigens, two sorts of alloantiserum were prepared by injecting peripheral red blood cells or lymphocytes in chickens: one was anti-erythrocyte serum (AES) and the other was anti-lymphocyte serum (ALS). Donors and recipients were selected respectively with or without the Factors A, D, G, M and T of the B system of chickens at the preparation of the antiserum (AES & ALS). Hemagglutinin tests and lymphocyte cytotoxicity tests were carried out reciprocally by using these antisera. Furthermore, absorption tests with red blood cells or lymphocytes were performed with antilymphocyte serum (Anti-Ly-Ba and Anti-Ly-Bg). The results obtained are as follows: 1. It became clear that anti lymphocyte sera (ALS) contained hemagglutinin antibodies, besides, the anibodies reacted with lymphocytes in cytotoxicity tests. 2. The specificities of lymphocyte antigens were distinguished apparently from erythrocyte antigens. 3. The lymphocyte antigen of the chicken which has erythrocyte antigen of the Factor Ba was designated tentatively as lymphocyte a (Ly-Ba). However, the difference between the lymphocyte a (Ly-Ba) and the non a (Non Ly-Ba) was not recognized. Jpn.
