Abstract
The experiments were planned to study feeding behaviour, ruminating behaviour, and physiological responses for forced feeding in two male goats. The study consists of experiments in normal feeding (voluntary intake during 0-6 hours), 1st forced feeding (voluntary intake during 0-2 hours), 2nd forced feeding (voluntary intake during 0-4 hours), and fasting. Total feed intake for three experiments was in 1149±149g/day, and total water intake for four experiments was 2500±343ml/day. Mastication, masticating time, and feeding speed were the same in the normal feeding, 1st forced feeding, and 2nd forced feeding experiments after the start of normal feeding but for forced feeding. Rumination and ruminating time (Remastication and remasticating time) in the forced were almost the same as those in the fasting experiment. Rumen temperature and rectal temperature in the forced feeding were lower than those in the normal feeding, although they increased after the forced feeding. Respiratory and heart rates in the forced feeding were constantly lower than those in the normal feeding, although they increased after the forced feeding. From this, feeding behavior, ruminating behaviour, and physiological responses seemed to be different between the normal feeding and the forced feeding over the same period of time.
