Abstract
This study was conducted to examine the relationships between the levels of blood constituents and the responses of donor cattle to superovulation treatment.
1) Plasma concentration of total cholesterol and phospholipids was lower in cattle that produced no transferable embryos.
2) Plasma concentration of γ-globulin was higher in cattle that responded poorly to superovulation treatment.
3) Activity of acid phosphatase was lower in cattle that produced no transferable embryos.
Overall results suggested that the physiological status (such as liver function and lipid metabolism) of donor cattle is important to get good superovulation response.
