Following Prof. Dr. Maekawa's theory on allergy, I attempted to produced in rabbits a pattern of diffuse nephritis by means of the mixture of β hemolytic streptococci and kidney phosphatide. This experiment consists of the first and the second experiment. In the first experiment rabbits were sensitized withsuspensions of hemolytic streptococci vaccine and kidney phosphatide which were givin intravenously for 4 days, and reinjection of 3 days duration was undertaken 3 weeks after. Animals showed elevated blood pressure and proteinuria clinically following this treatment, and the picture of diffuse nephritis was demonstrated histologically, though slight in its degree. In the second experiment rabbits were injected with suspensions of hemolytic streptococci (living) and blood perfused kidney phosphatide intravenously. Injections for sensitization were continued for 7days, and reinjections were instituted for 5days, followed by another row of reinjection for 5 days which was performed 3 weeks later. Clinically elevated blood pressure and proteinuria were observed and histologically there was the picture of diffuse nephritis, perivasculitis and arteriolitis. Summary : In the first experiment rabbits were sensitized with suspensions of hemolytic streptococci vaccine and kidney phosphatide by means of intravenous injection, and reinjected with the same. In the second experiment rabbits were sensitized with suspensions of the hemolytic streptocci (living) and blood perfused kidney phosphatide, and reinjected with the same. In these experiments elevated blood pressure and proteinuria resulted clinically, and histologically the picture of diffuse nephritis was obtained The change of kidney was greater in the second experiment. Remarkable change did no take place in other organs.
