Abstract
Following the facility users murder and assault incident at the Prefectural Tsukui Yamayuri in 2016[, Kanagawa Prefecture established the “KANAGAWA CHARTER for a Society Living Together in Harmony” to eliminate prejudice and discriminatory thinking towards people with disabilities and realize a society where everyone can live with peace of mind. As a specific approach towards this goal, the “Tomoiki Art Support Project” has been implemented since the fiscal year 2020. This initiative aims to promote mutual understanding and respect regardless of disability through art. With numerous participants and presentation opportunities, the project is steadily progressing and integrating into society. This article reports on the progress of the project through on-site interviews and verification.
