This study focuses on the design and implementation of university courses in collaboration with local communities with the objective of providing strategies to address challenges in project-based learning from the perspective of university teachers. Qualitative analysis of descriptions of class practice revealed that teachers’ roles and skills evolved at varying stages. The teachers emphasized the early establishment of project goals in lesson design and the importance of sharing educational goals with external stakeholders for effective time management. The study concludes by discussing future considerations, including the need to accumulate case studies and analyze them
from the perspectives of external stakeholders, considering the limitations inherent in case study analyses.

In the interregional balance of payments for regional economic circulation, quantitative analysis has so far been conducted utilizing renewable energy within the region, which reduces the outflow of energy bills outside the region. On the other hand, with the introduction of a large amount of renewable energy, there is an increasing need for output curtailment and adjustment power. This study proposes a method to diagram and quantify the interregional balance of payments when intraregional regulating power is operated in three applications (capacity market, supply and demand adjustment market, and electricity price reduction). The interregional balance was quantified by considering the electricity data of one campus as one region. We showed that the use of a storage battery with an output of 1,600 kW and a capacity of 6 hours would result in an inflow of 65,074,000 yen/year into the region and a reduction of 27,915,000 yen/year outflow from the region.

“Civic pride” refers to the pride that citizens feel toward their
city, and there has been extensive research on its sources,
utilization methods, and measurement scales. However,
there is still room for reconsideration regarding the
definition and measurement methods of this concept. This study examined the components of civic pride based on the results of interview surveys. Analyzing civic pride as something directly connected to actions and activities in the community, the study proposed that elements of civic pride could include emotions such as 'aspirations to settle down,'' aspirations for the community,' 'confidence,' 'identity,' and 'pride,' as well as motivations, and norms like 'sense of responsibility, ''sense of obligation,' and 'behavioral

In regions without universities, a nationwide challenge arises as young individuals often leave their local communities upon pursuing higher education. In the post-COVID era, this study focuses on identifying effective elements for hybrid face-to-face and online interactions between non-university local cities and university students. Furthermore, the study aims to propose methods for utilizing these elements in the planning and design of interactions on the ground. From the results of interview surveys, effective elements for hybrid interactions are categorized into program entry, content, and exit. To facilitate sharing and utilization of these elements among those planning and designing interactions, the study employs the “Pattern Language” method to create 16 patterns titled “Interaction Design in the Post-COVID Era for Tsushima Glocal University.” Additionally, tools are developed to enhance the utilization of these elements, and practical workshops using the created tools are conducted. Based on the results of these tools and workshops, a tool applicable to non-Tsushima municipalities without universities is devised, aiming for broader application in local cities without university.

We take notice of shared houses as one of the scheme to let related populations. Among of these, this research defines the specific shared house as a “local-community-engaged shared house” that is conscious of involvement in the local community, and systematically views it as a scheme that has the function of creating a related population. The project has been underway since fiscal 2022 as an initial stage study to validate evidences of possibilities for various issue-resolutions, including solving the problem of vacant houses or maintaining local communities at not only the specific location but also others. In the fiscal 2022 research, we confirmed that residents of shared houses are related population, that residential populations are prepared to receive them, and that the related population and residential population are on an equal relationship, where those have been stated in many previous studies. At the same time, we did also in the specific shared house, that the cause of the related population is synchronized with the wills of the residential populations, that there is a basic structure where people who desire relationships and connections gather, and that social capital between the related populations and the residential populations is established and expand from there although it is small. In this study, we focused on how this social capital is expanded, and how residents of shared houses who have the potential to expand social capital join to live in shared houses.

Therefore, in this study, we refer to people from outside the region who newly enter a specific region for a variety of reasons as newcomers, and focused on the process by which newcomers become established in the local community as agents that foster communality. As a result of verification based on data obtained from semi-structured interviews with newcomers working in Nishiaizu Town, Fukushima Prefecture, we found that the process of awareness and action by newcomers in the process of establishing communality, It has become clear that there has been a change in the region's acceptance of this.

With the widespread adoption of renewable energy, there is a growing demand for output control and power regulation. This study addresses the importance of not only substituting conventional energy sources with renewables but also improving the interregional balance of payments through the effective utilization of regulating power in the context of regional revitalization. In this research, we present a decarbonization scenario wherein a newly established regional power company operates both renewable energy and regulating power. We quantify the interregional balance of payments required for a comprehensive regional economic cycle analysis.
The quantitative analysis considers various markets, including the wholesale electricity market, non-fossil value trading market, capacity market, supply and demand adjustment market, and imbalance settlement. By comparing interregional balances across four decarbonization scenarios using measured demand and generation data, our findings indicate that the concurrent operation of renewable energy and regulating power has the potential to significantly contribute to the enhancement of interregional balances.

In recent years, as residents' consumption behavior has changed, the decline of shopping districts has become a major issue for local communities. In response to this situation, commercial high schools across Japan have been promoting learning activities to participate in shopping district revitalization. Until now, commercial high schools' shopping district revitalization has faced the following problems: (1) lack of understanding by store owners, (2) lack of competence among teaching staff, and (3) lack of motivation among students.
It is important for commercial high schools to continue to verify the educational effects of their participation in shopping district revitalization. In this paper, we organized and discussed the educational effects, focusing particularly on changes in the attitudes of students who participated in the Taisho-suji shopping district revitalization activities in Nagata-ku, Kobe City, conducted by a commercial high school in Kobe City. As a result, it became clear that sharing evaluation perspectives, etc. in the preliminary class brought out a multifaceted approach from the students.

Since the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism enacted the Law for the Promotion of Bicycle Utilization in 2017, cycle tourism has been promoted in many regions. However, since the lowest level of this initiative is the training of guides and the planning and dissemination of guided cycling tours, prior research on learning and consumption purchasing behavior in guided cycling is still in its infancy.
In this study, we conducted a survey and analysis of cycle tourism that enriches the local community through a demonstration experiment, which showed the correlation between “cycling x human connections x learning. The results suggest that guided cycling tours with a local consumption and purchasing behavior promotion system can create “Cycling x Human Connection x Learning,” improve the use of the five senses, and promote the improvement of consumption and purchasing behavior in the region.

Due to the declining birthrate and aging society, as well as the concentration of population in the three major metropolitan areas, a declining population has become apparent in the region and the local economy has stagnated, resulting in a marked reduction in tax revenues. In order to revitalize the local economy under these circumstances, creating economic benefits by increasing the number of people interacting with each other is an important regional development measure. Furthermore, it is necessary to create purposeful activities utilizing regional resources, and “regional development through sports” is attracting attention as an initiative for this purpose. In this paper, we focus on the Tokai area and conduct a survey on “regional promotion through sports” to analyze and verify the current status and issues of each municipality's efforts and conduct basic research to clarify the roles to be played by local governments in the future.

The PR movies produced in the region are mostly geared towards increasing awareness, with many aiming to create buzz. In general marketing communication, the communication objectives focus on attention and awareness in the early stages of consumer behavior, guiding individuals through stages towards action. However, the population decline issue faced by the region is severe and requires urgent attention. If, hypothetically, PR movies could go beyond capturing attention and awareness and directly approach migration behavior, they could delve into a behavior process specialized for regional revitalization, becoming a significant force in problem-solving. Therefore, in this Research, we first conducted an investigation and examination of previous research on the process from communication contact to action for migration purposes and attempted a new definition. Subsequently, we produced and released two PR movies for Soja City in Okayama Prefecture over a two-year period. Following this, we analyzed the impact of the PR movies on migration intentions through a survey and examined the relationship between the thematic content and viewers' intentions.

The purpose of this study was to clarify the actual state of gambling behavior, which is a part of the leisure behavior of the elderly by focusing on gender differences. As a result of a survey of 1044 elderly people living in the Tokyo metropolitan area the following “6 points” are presented as findings. As for the knowledge about the elderly in general,1) Gambling behavior is a unique position in leisure, but the barrier is not high. 2) It was suggested that even if gambling behavior is triggered by various conditions (purposes),it is possible to develop gambling addiction. 3) It was suggested that “interacting” with others is not necessarily emphasized in gambling behavior. 4) From the free-text responses, it became clear that the main reason for participation was the possibility of making a profit.Leisure behavior usually consumes money but does not increase it but gambling behavior implies the possibility of increasing money.I guess that's the charm of gambling. On the other hand, regarding gender differences, 1) men are more active, but women are more likely to gamble. Men participate with the emphasis on making money, but this is not necessarily the case with women. It was suggested that women are less obsessed with “profit” and “money.” 2) It was suggested that women are less susceptible to gambling addiction than men.For appropriate leisure behavior, we believe that it is possible to block bridges to problem behavior such as addiction by covering advance measures such as setting the amount of money according to one's own economic circumstances.
