Abstract
A total of 174 cases with cleft lip, alveolus, and/or palate underwent particulate marrow and cancellous bone grafting from 1991 to 1993.
In 12 of the 174 cases, i.e., unilateral cleft lip and alveolus (1 case), unilateral cleft lip and palate (8 cases) and, bilateral cleft lip and palate (3 cases), unsuccessful postoperative results were obtained. The details of complication included wound dehiscence and/or periodontal infection.
As for the surgical factors, the most successful results were obtained under the conditions of surgery performed from 8 to 10 years of age and of unerupted canine teeth.
