Abstract

The study carried out to investigate the temperature regulation system (TRS)-function of Korean women's folk clothes (KWFC), for which the physiological and psychological reactions of human body under various ambient temperature were measured.

The results of the present study are follows.

TRS-function of KWFC showed 6℃ declination toward low temperature when comparing with the function of naked state. According to the TRS-function, the human body temperature was regulated by oxygen-consumption at low temperature, blood-flow at medium temperature, and perspiration at high temperature.

The blood flow of finger and perspiration was occurred at higher 3℃ than men's TRS-function. The difference by kinds of summer and autumn clothes was showed in little influence for TRS-function of human body.

In the comfortable temperature wearing KWFC, summer clothes was 28℃, autumn clothes was 22℃. Baji (Korean women's folk pants) among various parts of KWFC was most contributed to the thermal insulation effect at low temperature.
