Abstract
It is known that interpersonal behaviors are affected by the cue received from others, such as appearance and voice. On the other hand, it is considered that the physical environment which surrounds us, for example, music, a scent, influences behavior and feeling. However, it is not shown clearly until now whether interpersonal behaviors is affected from physical environment. In this study, we examined whether interpersonal impressions would be changed by the operation of background space using questionnaires. It became apparent that a background space impressed us pleasantly gave attractive impressions, moreover a background space impressed us spaciously and brightly gave good and gentle (not cold) impressions, respectively. It shows that interpersonal impressions are influenced by not only psychological aspects of background space but also physical aspects directly. It is suggested that the operation of physical environment improves interpersonal behaviors.
