Outline of “AIJ Guidebook on Seismic Performance Evaluation of Structures in Nuclear Facilities”

Abstract

The Architectural Institute of Japan (AIJ) has published the “AIJ Guidebook on Seismic Performance Evaluation of Structures in Nuclear Facilities.” This guidebook focuses on reinforced concrete structures with shear walls in nuclear facilities and explains four existing evaluation methods as quantitative approaches for assessing seismic performance, referencing standards for seismic design of general and nuclear facility structures. A key feature of this guidebook is its systematic explanation of the relationship between deterministic and probabilistic methods for the evaluation of seismic performance.
