Abstract
Three methods of test have been proposed for standardization of the test of bond strength between reinforcing bars and concrete. These are a pullout bond test, a both bar ends tension test, and a bond beam test. The pullout bond test is conducted by pulling out one end of a bar while the other end being embedded in an un-reinforced concrete block, and is used to evaluate the bond strength when governed by splitting of cover concrete. The both bar ends tension test is used to evaluate an ability to distribute transverse cracks. The bond beam test is used to evaluate the ultimate bond strength when the surrounding concrete is sufficiently reinforced by transverse reinforcement.
