Concrete Works in the Construction of Unit No.3 and No.4 at Takahama Nuclear Power Station of the Kansai Electric Power Company

Abstract

This report describes the outline of the concrete works at the construction of the No.3 and No.4 units of Takahama Nuclear Power Station, Kansai Electric Power Company. About 400000 m³ of concretes containing moderate heat cement, pulverized fuel ash and a naphthalen-based superplasticizer, were placed at the construction. In order to obtain sufficient quality of the structures, various tests for the quality control of the materials and the concrete were conducted. A new-type distributor was introduced to make it easy to place a large volume of concrete.
