Abstract
The ANA Information Center Building is a large-scale, computerized building, eight-stories high above the ground level, located in an area adjacent to Haneda Airport. Multiple curtain walls-consisting of PC panels, PCF panels, and aluminum curtain walls are now being used on its exterior. The aluminum curtain walls have adopted the structural glazing system-The SGS method. This system is equipped with an earthquake immune mechanism which is the first case to be used in Japan. Although the curtain wall method has been used regularly, problems have been arisen in our lack of data and knowledge, when adjusting the movement to the fitness accordingly. Another problem resulted in the lack of time we had with this project. To keep up the high standard of quality in such a short period of time, and also to give recognition of our initial plan, we reviewed and examined all data thoroughly. After that, our results were confirmed by conducting a full-scale test. This is a prime example of how such results were feed back into the design. Thus reflecting our work execution in which high quality products can materialize in such a short period of time.
