Abstract
A stress-ribbon bridge for pedestrian has been constructed in one of the golf courses in Japan by using new materials. This bridge is composed of ground anchors, abutments and main cables, which is enclosed with the very thin cast-in-place concrete slab. For this bridge four kinds of fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) were applicated. The tendons for ground anchors are consist of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) rods, the ones for the main cables are aramid fiber reinforced plastic (AFRP) flat bars. The precast concrete panels which are used for the outer form of the slab to produce beautiful surface of the bridge are reinforced with vinyron short fibers and also with the CFRP strands. Besides, the design and construction of this bridge, this paper will describe the development of the ground anchor, main cable and precast concrete panels using FRP.
