In recent years, wind-induced cable vibrations of cable-stayed bridge have been observed, and phenomena of these have become a major problem in the wind engineering. This paper outlines wind-induced cable vibrations and the countermeasures against such vibrations, and describes the state of the art by referring to the experiences in Japanese prestressed concrete cable-stayed bridges.
