Abstract
The collage technique/therapy has been increasingly adapted as one of the psychotherapeutic methods for the last 20 years in Japan. It was first employed in an art technique in the 1920s and has been used in occupational therapy program in the U.S.A. during the 1960s. In recent years, it was utilized in various areas, such as administration of justice, medical care, occupational therapy, welfare, self-development, and education. Its present condition and the problem of collage technique/medical treatments have been reported (Aoki, 2000a). Since 2000, the number of cases studies is limited in numbers, while the number of studies showing evidence of this technique/therapy has been increasing. The study, again, showed the difficulty in standardizing, interpreting, and setting the criteria. This study surveyed the research trend of collage technique/therapy since 2000 and tried to examine points which seemed plausible for future study.
