Classwide Social Skills Training (CSST) has been widely conducted for promoting social development in children and adolescents. Nevertheless, the strategies to generalize learned social skills have not been well-established. The purpose of this paper was to organize the procedures for generalization in CSST through a review of the practical studies in Japan from the viewpoint of applied behavior analysis. Thirtyfive articles were collected for this study and were coded following the framework of Stokes and Osnes (1989). The correspondence between the procedures used in CSST and the generalization promotion strategies was shown, and the features and challenges were clarified. As for future direction, it is necessary to intentionally implement the generalization promotion strategies in CSST while incorporating the evaluation of generalization effect of the target skills, and to do further research for identifying the factors which promote the generalization effect.
