Abstract
This study aims to clarify the situation of the resident's change for the suburban residential areas developed in around 1970 that are adjacent to the built-up area in the local city.
First of all, we define DID that expanded in 1970-90 years for Nagaoka City as the suburban residential area. Next, we select five districts for the study from the defined area, and examine the land use change, vacant lots, vacant houses and residents' change in the districts after 1981.
As a result, we clarify the followings. 1) There are 70 percent detached houses without the householder's change in about 30 years. 2) The houses where the resident changes into others are 20 percent of the houses at the districts. 3) The information on the vacant lots and vacant houses is not transmitted enough to the new residence applicants.
