Abstract
In recent years, due to the urbanization of farmland, agricultural water channels running through the city nearly ends their roles. The Tamagushi River, which this study focuses on, is an agricultural water channel which runs through Yao City, Osaka Prefecture. This paper examines both the structure of residents' consciousness and issues for improving Tamagushi River. The workshop was held three times, mainly in three school districts along the Tamagushi River. Also, questionnaire surveys were conducted. As a result of surveys, it is identified that 1) Tamagushi River needs to have multi functions such as landscape, ecology and disaster preventions; 2) local residents have to take part in local activities to maintain the good environment of the Tamagushi River.
