Abstract
Along the Ecuadorian coast, shrimp fry collecting gear have been used for more than ten years. These consist of six types of gear, three stationary and three mobile. The construction and dimensions of these gear are explained and illustrated as well as their mode of operation. Some ecological notes on shrimp fry are given. These gear could prove to be useful for collection of fish fry for culture. Finally some recommendations on how to improve fry handling for their better survival and to conserve natural resources of edible species are suggested.
