The Pre-Cretaceous Mananga Group (MG) is a complex suite of igneous and sedimentary rocks in central Cebu Philippines. Regolithic materials arbitrarily collected from MG were used in the clay mineralogical investigation using the 2μm size fraction. Results from multiple analyses showed the heterogeneity of phyllosilicates with smectite phase determined as the most preponderant and ubiquitous component. Chlorite illite kaolinite and mica are essentially present in variable amounts with smectite. These clay minerals occur in various assemblages and proportions.
