A simple new method of practical use was described for the demonstration of spiral structure of meiotic chromosomes in the PMC. It simply consists in that usual drinking or distilled water is used for pretreatment. A smear of PMCs is made on a slide, and a very small amount of water is added on it, which is left for a short time. The smear is then fixed and stained with acetocarmine. This method is likewise applicable to permanent smears with fair result.
