Abstract
In 1945, Dino Buzzati wrote a children's book entitled La famosa invasione degli orsi in Sicilia (The Bears' Famous Invasion of Sicily). This book contains various elements, including aspects of style and evidence of personal preferences, that would appear again in some of his later works. In this article, while tracing the flow of the book, I focus on the mountains and monsters that Buzzati shows a predilection for, and examine part of his identity as a writer and artist as well as some of the things that he held special feelings for throughout his life.
