In order to realize full-blown regenerative medicine that is expected to achieve permanent care, a wide variety of breakthroughs would be required. In addition, ES cells have been also focused as another cell source in clinical settings following early clinical success with somatic stem cells. Here, the current statuses of regenerative medicine and ES cell research are summarized, and the expectation for nanotechnology in this field is described.
