Abstract
Prediction of therapeutic effect in a patient is difficult. NanoDDS technology may enable this, by incorporating both diagnostic and therapeutic function on a nanodevice. Such nanodevices are called as theranostic probes. Contrast media for various clinical imaging modalities(CT, MRI, US, PET, or SPECT)are the key to realize diagnostic function in theranostic probes. Further studies needed, however, before clinical application of theranostic probes, including toxicology, pharmacokinetics, and other aspects.
