Abstract

The improvement of the straightness of flat bar products such as a tool steel and tube products such as the PPW Technology Tube influences the yield of the succeeding process.
Authors have developed the in-line device to calculate the amount of maximum bending by measurement of the total length profile of flat bars and tubes. Although it was difficult so far for operators to know those bending exactly, e.g. 2 mm bending of a 5m long bar, visually, the device enables to provide the profile of the total length and maximum bending accurately by using non-contact method. The device for flat bars provides the profile in the direction of a top surface and a side surface, and the device for tubes provides the profile of radial displacements and its angles.
