Abstract

The edge face processing such as edge cutting/correction for small bar steel products is done in DAIDO STEEL Co., Ltd., but the inspection trouble and productivity lowering occurs sometimes, because the inspection of molding quantity and bending quantity has been made by eye conventionally. Authors have succeeded in developing the in-line automatic sensing device for molding/bending inspection and edge-face scale remainder inspection by the optical method, and have obtained the following inspection performance.
(1) Edge cutting quantity/bending quantity measurement accuracy: ±0.2mm or less
(2) Scale-remainder-rate measurement accuracy: ±1% or less
(3) Evaluation of cutting flaw, cutting burr and scale remainder
This device is introduced into CHITA plant, DAIDO STEEL Co., Ltd., and is well utilized for the automatic edge shape inspection and also for the control means of a cutting machine/a bending correction machine.
