Abstract
Dimensional change behavior of tensile pre-strained materials in stress relieving treatment has been investigated.
The results obtained are as follows:
(1) There are contractive steels and expansive steels in stress relieving tensile pre-strained materials.
(2) Dimensional change value in stress relieving tensile pre-strained materials rises with increasing pre-strain and saturates at about 4% pre-strain.
(3) The said materials are nearly proportional to internal stress of pre-strained materials.
(4) Dimensional change mechanism is presumed that contraction is caused by plastic deformation of matrix, while expantion is caused by resolution and/or redistribution of unatable carbide (Fe3C).
