抄録

Recently, customers' demand for wider variety of steel grades and sizes is getting greater and greater.
To meet the demand, Daido Steel developed a high productivity process of arc furnace without enlarging furnace capacity which is named “a combination operation process.” This process is characterized by that two arc furnaces are coupled together to be tapped alternately under command of one furnace crew. Advantages of this process could be summarized as follows:
1) The productivity could be raised from 60t/h to 100t/h by fully utilizing the idle time of (LF-RH) line under the minimum investment cost.
2) Auxiliary power consumption for gas cleaner and cooling water could be reduced by 30 to 60 percent in the combination operation process.
3) EBT and Clean House installed in the new process have been operating in good condition.
