Abstract
In this study, we used the National Diet Record Search System to clarify the trends in discussions on gaming disorder through quantitative text analysis. In addition, we analyzed characteristic words in statements about gaming disorder by year and clarified the transition of the discussion. As a result, discussions were held related to "measures against gaming addiction based on scientific evidence," "increase in gambling addiction and Internet addiction," "classification of gaming disorder as WHO's ICD-11," "prolonged use of the Internet and Internet addiction have adverse effects on the mind and body," "treatment and consultation regarding addiction will be provided at centers, etc.," and "conducting actual surveys and research on gaming addiction and gaming disorder." In 2019, "gaming disorder" and "WHO" appeared, in 2020, "ordinances," "measures," and "scientific evidence" became topics of discussion, and in 2022, "ICD" and "disease" were seen, and awareness of gaming disorder increased. In 2023, "treatment" emerged, and the importance of support measures was confirmed. These changes indicate that social interest in gaming disorder is increasing and the need for measures and treatment is increasing.
