Abstract
The Association of Scientific & Technological Information has begun to prepare the index cards of Japanese patents and utility models since 1966. The index card, so-called "Listomatic Card ", is IBM punch card with patent number, date, title of invention and applicant, etc on the upper column, to be applied for the preparation of the classified general index list of Japanese patent and utility models issued by the Invention Association, as well as for the investigation on the specified applicant or classification. For sorting of these calds, the multicolam sorter " TANAC " provided with the photoelectric reader has been used.
