Abstract
It was suggested in the previous report that the way to make the code consisting of 3 or 4 KANA letters through deviding a company name (composed mostly of Chinese characters) into proper part (proper name) and form part (enterprise form) was suitable for codification of a company name. The present paper examined how much duplication occured among codified company in a particular field of industry when this method of abbreviation was used, with reference to patent materials in the field of chemistry collected by the writer's company. The result supported that gained by the previous experiment, and there was not much difference between them. A correlative curve of a number of patents by enterprises was somewhat similar to that of a number of photocopies by journals. From this fact, it was ascertained that the abbreviation of company names, assigning unique codes to companies owning many patents was advantageous. The remaining companies own a small number of patents, and so duplication of codes among them, if any, gave no particular inconvenience.
